Flew out on Friday. Went to Plymouth Rock and walked part of the town. Stayed there Friday night and checked out the town the next day.
Met Dusk on Saturday at the airport. We hung out and ate a good seafood dinner down in Quincy. The next day we saw a few cool sights downtown boston and then went to a red sox game. WHen people found out that I was running they treated us like kings. THe love the marathon and showing off their city. Next we drove out to the start line. I was getting really excited, but I didn't know whether to take the bus or have dusk drive me out the next day. I decided to catch the shuttle from downtown, and it worked out great. I wish I would have taken a few more things for the wait between the shuttle ride and the start. I talked to a few people out there, but everyone seemed really nervous about the heat. I knew I was just going to go have fun since I wasn't in shape to run for time. It was great. People standing on both sides of the road most of the way. I got to the top of heartbreak hill and thought I could coast in from there, but NO! That is a tough course. Mile 24 and 25 were really tough in the heat. I finished strong the last half mile. Dusky was supposed to meet me at the finish but got held up in the subway since he went to see me around mile 17. I sat by the start line for 30 minutes trying to regain myself. It was so hot and I was sitting downtown Boston with my shoes and socks off, no shirt, and a bag of finish line food. I had put 5 dollars in the key shorts of my pocket just in case, but other than that, I was feeling like a hobo. Dusk showed up and we went and got a burger at BK by the commons. We went back to the hotel and then went to see a few more sights. I got up on the morning and flew home. What an awesome experience. I want to qualify again when Kire is older so we can go together.
