What a beautiful morning for a run.  I didn't get in until about 11PM from Cedar last night, so I was a little nervous on getting to bed on time.  Decent sleep until 4:50AM.  Laur and Sisalee had to catch the half marathon bus at 5:40AM, so we hurried over there for them.  Kire and I didn't have to catch the 5K bus until later.  We started outi n the hurricane fields at about 7AM.  The temp. was chilly.  I could have used gloves, but other than that it was so nice.  I started out my first half mile at 5:30 and ran with one other guy.  I started to lose contact about a mile and half into it, but stayed at 6:01 pace through mile 2.  I dropped back to 6:22 pace for mile three and another guy passed me with about 6 blocks to go, so I regained focus and got around him before the final turn with what should have been 2/10 left.  It ended up being +/-2/10th too long.  That was too bad, because I would have broke the 20 minute mark.  oh well, it was a good race for me.

I grabbed a quick drink and walked back up the street a bit and here come Kire.  He had a great pace going, and after the race he said he felt like the guys that meditate on the magic rugs.  He couldn't feel his legs, because it was cold and he ran so hard.  He finished 1st in his age group and 11th overall.  He said he wanted to be in the top five overall.  That is a pretty big goal for an 8 year old.  He is loving the run and it is so fun to run races with him.  Soon he will have to wait for me at the finish line.  Kire-25:35

Laur used the half as a training run for the upcoming marathon.  She pushed sisalee to a new half marathon pr.  They were both very happy about the race.

PM ran the flying J/virgin river south loop.  We ate olive garden just before, so that didn't help things!

Awesome job Dace. Yeah that sub 20 would of been yours if the course was right on a 3.1. Very frustrating but you did a ran a really good race man.
